I did this video today of my install of dd-wrt on a stock Linksys WRT54GS2. This is a great router that we use for wireless g / b wireless ethernet bridge, wireless repeater, repeater bridge, and basic access point.
Here’s the video, I’ll include some instructions at the bottom of the post, once I have a few minutes to work through the steps on paper. You can buy these routers with dd-wrt already installed at our website, www.sabaitechnology.com

Great Video!
Thanks!
great tutorial video. have you tried using the recommended build Brainslayer 14929 with this router? wondering if your experience with 10709 is much better than 14929.

We’ve used that 14929 build for a lot of our VPN routers and it’s a very solid build.
to confirm my understanding, you have used 14929 with WRT54GS2 V1 and have found it to be a very solid build. would you recommend 14929 over 10709? thanks.
I’ve used 14929 extensively with Asus RT-N16 and WRT320N and it was rock solid. We’re not really using the WRT54GS2 anymore, but I would expect it to be solid on the WRT54GS2 as well.
I am using dd-wrt v14929 on a WRT54GS2 v1 and find it rock solid. I’m using the unit as a repeater bridge and it works wonderfully. Only thing I had to change from the instructions was that I didn’t turn off the SSID broadcast when I put it in Client Bridge mode first, leave it on. Then when you change to Repeater Bridge mode, it will already be on and working.
