Troubleshoot Tuesdays: StrongVPN can only run on one device

Are you unable to get a StrongVPN connection on your Sabai Technology router? Does the icon keep spinning but your VPN never connects?

Check to make sure that your VPN is not running on any other devices (i.e. computer, iphone, ipad etc). With StrongVPN, you can only run the VPN on one device at a time and our router acts as this one device.  Once the StrongVPN information is installed on the router, anything you connect will be served with a VPN tunnel.  After you have disabled all other VPN connections, try entering your StrongVPN information into the router once again.  You should now have a VPN connection!

If you have disabled the VPN on all other devices and are still unable to connect the router to StrongVPN, please contact our technical support at support@sabaitechnology.com.

Sabai OS V4: Port Forwarding

Last but not least, we will be discussing the Port Forwarding feature on our Sabai OS V4. Port Forwarding is a feature that allows your devices to work at optimum performance and speed.  Many times devices request that certain ports be forwarded for the optimum experience.  The instructions for that device will make you aware of the port forwarding needs.

You will need the following piece of information to take advantage of the port forwarding feature:

  • Which protocol to forward
  • The ports you would like to forward
  • The IP addresses of each device

If you are not familiar with port forwarding or would like more information, contact us at support@sabaitechnology.com.

Make sure to check out the sale that is still going on at www.sabaitechnology.com.

Sabai OS V4: Dual Gateway Capability

The next feature we have added to the Sabai OS V4 is the dual gateway. Dual gateway allows you to assign which devices will receive local connections and which devices will receive a VPN connection.  Previously, dual gateway was only possible with 2 routers, but we have captured all of the power of dual wan within one router!

Here is how it works.

The Sabai Technology router must first be set up with a VPN connection.  After you have a VPN tunnel, activate the dual gateway function within the router.

Each device requires a static DHCP IP address to take advantage of the dual gateway capability. To automatically assign a static DHCP IP address, you simply connect the device to the router and add it to the list.  The connection will default to local internet. You can choose VPN from the drop down list to change the device connection to VPN. Make sure to disconnect and reconnect each device to establish routing with the new address.

See how simple it is?

Additional information regarding dual gateway: If you have set the Network WAN/Internet Setting to PPPoE, the dual gateway will not function. You must have a separate device to run the PPPoE.

Sabai OS V4: Easier OpenVPN setup

The response to our latest OS V4 release has been overwhelming!  We are super excited for our customers to try out the new features we have added.  The rest of this week, we will be discussing in detail each of the new features and how they can serve you best.

Today, we will be discussing the much improved OpenVPN setup.  In the previous version of Sabai OS, customers would have to navigate to a certain file within the server files provided by StrongVPN.  We have simplified the process even more!

Here is how the simplified setup works:

1. You simply login to your StrongVPN account. Click on VPN Accounts Summary on the left side of the page.

2. Click on the “View Greeting” link for your OpenVPN server.  Download the zip file to your desktop.

3. When uploading the OpenVPN files to your Sabai router, navigate to the zipped file and the router will do the rest!

Here is what it will look like before you load the file:

Here is what it will look like after you load the file:

Troubleshoot Tuesday: Using your AppleTV with Sabai Technology VPN router

Did you know that you can connect your AppleTV to your Sabai Technology VPN router?

Once you have set up the VPN connection on your Sabai router, you can wirelessly connect your AppleTV. You can now stream all of your favorite televisions shows, movies and music.  It is that simple!

If your AppleTV is not properly connecting to the Sabai router, there is a chance that your local ip is still stored within the device.  You can correct this by doing a reset to clear the cache on the device.  DO NOT restore to factory defaults, performing a restore will erase all of the your personalized settings within the device.  If you continue to have issues connecting your AppleTV, contact us at support@sabaitechnology.com

Troubleshoot Tuesdays: Wireless interruption?

Is your wireless network not showing up in your Network and Sharing
Center?  Trouble connecting wirelessly?

If you have a wireless assistant running on your computer (other than the traditional Windows Network and Sharing Center), you need to uninstall the program. The wireless assistant can often interrupt your wireless capabilities.

If you are using an older machine, you may want to change the encryption on your router to WEP.  This will help with the wireless
connection.  Follow these 3 simple steps to change your encryption to WEP:

1. Login to the router panel by typing 192.168.199.1 into an address bar of a web browser.

2. Click on the Network Tab of the router.

3. Scroll down to the Wireless Section of the router and make sure wireless is enabled.  You can then choose WEP from the Security drop down list. Save the settings.

Still having issues with your wireless network?  Contact us at support@sabaitechnology.com.
